The Bible Challenge

One of the primary reasons people don’t read God’s Word is because they don’t have a plan!

We began 2016 with RISE  where we read through the entire Bible as a congregation in 77 hours.

We followed that up with a challenge for individuals to read through the entire Bible in 2016.

Thom Rainer, CEO and President of Lifeway, has looked at tens of thousands of churches over the last several years and concluded that there are two common practices in the healthiest churches:

the church strongly encourages its members to read the Bible daily;

the church has an incredible strong emphasis on groups.

If you’ve been around Beach Road for any amount of time, you know that both of these characterize Beach Road.

In 2017, we want our members to continue reading God’s Word. Our hope was that reading in 2016 would cultivate a habit that would continue for the rest of your life.

We’ve put together this book that gives you several reading plans to choose from.

We don’t care which plan you choose. We care that you choose a plan and that you are consistently in God’s Word.

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joins and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

We do not read the Bible simply to fill our minds, but to change our hearts. - Tim Chester
